The deputies of Morena and their allies have been questioned for their absence during the interviews to select the members of the Selection Committee that will appoint the person in charge of the Institute of Democratic Planning and Prospecting in the Congress of Mexico City. Olivia Garza, president of the Development Planning Commission, expressed her concern about possible procedural flaws in this process and the lack of consensus.
According to Garza, the absence of Morena legislators at the interviews and the presence of political profiles aligned with the ruling party would be politicizing the process, which could delegitimize it and affect its transparency. In contrast, the PAN is seeking technical profiles with experience to ensure an adequate and objective selection.
Garza pointed out that none of the interview sessions had the necessary quorum, which raises doubts about the validity of the decisions made in those meetings. The legislator lamented the lack of consensus with the opposition and expressed her concern about the precedent this could set in the preparation of future planning instruments.
In this regard, Garza announced that they are assessing the possibility of challenging the selection process due to these irregularities. She emphasized the importance of listening to and considering all sectors of society in decision-making related to the Institute of Planning, underscoring the need to build agreements and work together to ensure a transparent and legitimate process.
